I am 29 and I have been writing ever since I figured out that I could express myself without actually opening my mouth. At the age of 13, my love for words exceeded my love for boys, toys, or food.

I grew up on the south side of Chicago, Il. I also lived in Robbins, Il. where I attended school in Blue Island at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School. The teachers at DDE opened my eyes to the realm of poetry – what it was, what it will, and what it is for me. I enjoyed verses from Shakespeare, and Beowulf is one poem that has always stayed with me. Also, Canturbury Tales is one book that is a must-read and I’ve always loved it.

This form of expression has helped me through my rough times and has amplified the good times. Using the pen as a megaphone and the paper as the sounding board was a hobby that I hoped would become bigger, somehow more important than eating or sleeping. And it has because the words I write are my own encouragement.

I may not eat or sleep for writing but in these poems you’ll find the dreams never dreamt. My poetry may not be as important as those I have mentioned since they have a voice that has been carried down through history on paper. That is my goal, you don’t have to remember me, but remember my words.
